Our girls love things that are sweet, and if you buy baby food you’ll notice that while they list the veggie first on the label, the fruit is almost always the primary ingredient.  We thought we’d try a baby food with carrots and apples, since carrots are naturally a sweet veggie, and the apples (fuji in this case) add a nice texture and flavor to the carrots.  We used baby carrots because it’s easier than peeling regular carrots, although you could certainly use regular carrots which would be cheaper.

Here’s the NUK Cook-n-blend all ready to go.





1/2 small bag of baby carrots, cut into 1/2″ pieces

1 apple, cut into 1″ pieces

1 cup water for steaming


1. cut fruit and add to cook-n-blend or steamer

2. add steaming liquid, press go.  I steamed this for 17 minutes in the machine to get the carrots fully cooked but still bright in color.

3. pour out half of the steaming liquid.  add the steamed fruit and veggies.
